The top of Ryuzu Waterfall from Lake Yu (yunoko)

Yutaki (also written Yudaki) is a powerful waterfall between Senjogahara and Lake Yu (Yunoko) in the mountains of Nikko, dropping about 100 metres from the lake’s outflow at 1,490 m. A staircase of around 250 steps climbs alongside the falls, with a rest house at the base when open. Reachable on the Senjogahara–Yumoto bus route. Base yourself at Earth Hostel Nikko Riverhouse.

Yutaki (湯滝, Yu Waterfall) — also romanized Yudaki is nestled right between Senjogahara and Lake Yu (yunoko).  With an elevation change of about 100m, it is 1410m at the base and where the waterfall begins on Lake Yu at 1490m.

If you’re lucky and the little restaurant is open, you can rest and refill at the base before the 250 or steps rising along the falls.

If you’re absolutely exhausted, you can walk over to the road and take the bus up to Lake Yu and Yumoto or back down through Senjogahara to JR Nikko and Tobu Nikko train stations.
