Nikko Kaido cycling
Nikko Kaido is part of the Edo 5 routes.
The road is quite a unique road to ride and drive on. Most of it is rather wide with bike paths & sidewalks with trees often between them and the road itself. There are also many water towers, stations, shrines, statues and historical points.
The cherry blossoms were in full bloom during this trip, along with other types of flowers.
This cycling trip started in central Nikko near Takino Shrine near Imaichi-shuku (???). It was a short trip that only included 2 stations ?zawa-shuku (???) and Tokujir?-shuku (????) before turning around near Utsunomiya-shuku (????).
It was about 65km over 5.5 hours, including an hour lunch in Utsunomiya Central Park. Thanks to Nicole and Kitty for their company. Great fun on your 3 month cycling journey Nicole.
Nikko Kaido is also part of the Guinness World Record holder for the “Longest Avenue of Trees”.
